Ellen Degeneres spoke on her talk show about her choice as the fourth judge of the Fox mega hit show American Idol. “Hopefully, I’m the people’s point of view because I’m just like you,” DeGeneres said on her syndicated talk show Thursday. “I sit at home and I watch it, and I don’t have that technical … I’m not looking at it in a critical way from the producer’s mind. I’m looking at it as a person who is going to buy the music and is going to relate to that person.”

Degeneres replaces Paula Abdul who had a rather public contract negotiation battle wit hthe show’s producers which resulted in her leaving the show where she has served as a judge and unofficial mentor to the contestants since 2002.

Although she has no music experience, many fans across the Internet welcome the idea of Degeneres as a judge as her opinion will be just like theirs.

Look for Degeneres to take on her role as judge when she joins show judges Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, Randy Jackson and host Ryan Seacrest for the 9th season of Idol beginning in January.
