The White House Hosts Country Music Performance


First Lady Michelle Obama has launched a music series to encourage arts and arts education. Artists will participate in workshops for middle school and high school music students. Later the artists performed at The White House. The latest performance series featured country artists Alison Krause and Union Station, Brad Paisly and Charley Pride. President Obama, who enjoys listening to country music said, “…[it] has captured our restlessness and resilience” through storytelling.

A public memorial for Michael Jackson will be held on Tuesday, July 7 at 10am at The Staple Center in Los Angeles. Former Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, Sarah Palin surprised the nation today by resigning her role as the Governor of the state of Alaska. The timing of the resignation, which some political experts have been described as puzzling, has fueled speculation as to the real reason for her resignation. Reasons being sited are many, from eagerness to advance her national political career to criticism over her interests outside of the office (namely her book deals) conflicting with her gubernatorial duties.
