Fox Reality Show ‘House Husbands of Hollywood’ Puts Different Spin On The Genre

channel_tileYou’ve watched and heard about The Real Housewives of Atlanta, The Real Housewives of Orange County, and even The Southern Belles of Louisville. Celebrity wives are no stranger to the reality mix. BET’s Tiny and Toya, which follows the day to day lifestyles of the significant others of R&B and rap artists, T.I. and Lil Wayne, is the newest hit for the cable channel in recent history.

Fox Reality is following in the footsteps of those shows, but there’s a twist. The housewives are househusbands. The Househusbands of Hollywood,  premiering August 15 on Fox Reality follows, some Hollywood househusbands who stay at home and run the household while their wives are bringing home the bacon.

The cast includes:

–Former Los Angeles Dodger Billy Ashley and his celebrity make-up artist wife, Lisa

–Aspiring actor Danny Barclay and his wife, Katherine Barclay, an attorney.

–Convicted bank robber Charlie Mattera, who is married to a prominent psychologist (name withheld).

Tempestt Bledsoe of “The Cosby Show” and her partner, Darryl M. Bell of “A Different World.”

–Former Marine Corps sniper Grant Reynolds and his wife, Jillian Reynolds of Fox 11’s “Good Day L.A.” and “American Idol Extra.”

“Most of reality TV is a train wreck,” Billy Ashley said. “People like to see the bad side of what’s going on. For our show and the reality we’ve portrayed, it’s natural. Our storyline is basically what we do in life. For most of us here, it’s not a train wreck.”

BET’s Debra Lee Talks Michael Jackson, The Nielsen Ratings System and President Obama

BETBroadcasting and Cable sat down with BET networks head Debra Lee to get her thoughts on branding BET and how President Obama’s presidency will help Black America and the cable channel in general. “President Obama has had such a great effect. Having a black family in the White House increases awareness of black culture, and the number of non-black viewers coming to our network has increased”, said Lee.

Merce Cunningham was a highly celebrated choreographer and known to those in his field as a dance revolutionary, died at the age of 90.

He formed the Merce Cunningham Dance Company in New York and choreographed over 200 works.

In one of his last interviews, Cunningham spoke of what it took to be a dancer.  “Courage, you’re doing something you want to do, may even not know how to do it, but you still want to do it, so you go ahead and try.  That seems to be a part of courage.  But also to keep [ something up] at something for a long, long time as dancers do…that they can with the kind of courage it takes, physical and mental to keep going as a dancer,  is remarkable. “

Bryce Dallas Howard Cast In Third Twilight Film

Bryce Dallas Howard

Like her predecessor, Howard has long red hair

Actress Bryce Dallas Howard is to play evil character Victoria in the third Twilight film, Eclipse.

The screen star will replace Rachelle Lefevre, who took on the role in the first two installments of the franchise, its makers have said.

Lefevre quit because production on a film with Dustin Hoffman is due to start in another part of Canada at the same time. Howard’s other screen credits include Terminator Salvation and Spider-Man.  Her father is Oscar-winning director Ron Howard, whose films include Frost/Nixon and A Beautiful Mind. The character of Victoria in the vampire saga is the sworn enemy of the story’s heroine, Bella.

The first film in the series was released last year, and its follow-up, New Moon, is due to hit cinemas in November. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are the stars of the franchise, which – to date – has proved a box office success. The third film, also based on the books by Stephanie Meyer, is due to begin production next month and is scheduled for release next June. A fourth movie based on Meyer’s novel Breaking Dawn is also due to be produced. Summit Entertainment’s Erik Feig said: “Rachelle brought Victoria to great screen life and Bryce will bring a new dimension to the character.

“The franchise is lucky to have such a talented actress as Bryce coming in to fill the role.”

A double wedding on ‘One Life To Live’ means two beautiful dresses to admire

One Life To Live Cast Photo: ABC

There’s a double wedding on the horizon on ABC’s Emmy winning daytime drama, One Life To Live. Bo & Nora and Viki & Clint!?! No, the sign on the show was wrong. Clint Buchanan (Jerry vanDorne) is marrying his former sister-in-law Nora Hannon (Hillary B. Smith) in a double ceremony with his ex-wife, Viki Davidson (Erica Slezak) who is marrying Charlie Banks (Brian Kerwin). Confused? Not as much as the citizens in the fictional town of Llanview. This week things get even more complicated on the show when Bo and Nora kiss on the eve of the wedding. Bo just happens to be Clint’s brother, best man, and Nora’s ex-husband. Soap fans will be asking the following questions: Who will Nora marry? Will Nora get married or will she be a runaway bride? It’s always any one’s guess at a soap opera wedding. But one things for sure, they always look good no matter what they are doing. One Life To Live’s costume designer Susan Gammie talked about her choices for the characters in the August 4th issue of Soap Opera Weekly Magazine.

For the brides Viki and Nora, Gammie chose dresses with a soft glow and summer feel to them. Viki wears a champagne colored dress from Rose Taft. Nora’s dress is a blush pink duchess satin gown designed by Pilar Rossi. The bridesmaids are wearing dresses by Nicole Miller. They aren’t from the Nicole Miller bridal line but are part of her cocktail dress collection.

General Hospital’s Tristan Rogers Talks To Michael Fairman Soaps

Soap journalist Michael Fairman recently interviewed Tristan Rogers who plays the very popular Robert Scorpio on General Hospital. The Australian actor shared his thoughts about GH:Night Shift and about the show he has been on and off of for twenty years. When asked about General Hospital’s declining ratings, here’s what he had to say: “I think General Hospital, of all the soaps, is in a real quandary because “GH” is constantly fighting its past, and in particular, it’s fighting its past now. It seems to suddenly have become a real issue. When I went back to the show in 2006 it was starting to bubble, and I don’t know if comments I made at the time helped it bubble up a bit hotter. But, I think what you have got now is an issue with the core body of fans. “GH” has a core body of fans that support it with whatever is happening. Now that core body of fans is deserting it, and when the last one turns off, that’s it. The new fans will not support it in a way that the older, foundational group will. I have been saying for sometime, “This is the group you have to have be supporting.” The show needs to try and maintain these fans and get that group solidified, and then go after the other groups. But, you must keep that fan base and foundation. When you have got no foundation, there is nothing to build on.”
