ABC Daytime Stars Volunteer in Los Angeles and New York as part of SOAPnet’s Soap Nation Tour.

abc-daytime-logoAs part of the Entertainment IndustryFoundation’s iParticipate campaign, some of ABC Daytime’s stars will participate in school clean-up projects on New York and Los Angeles on Saturday, October 24, 2009. The stars will work along side of fans who volunteered to help beautify a local school in each city. Stars from General Hospital, One Life to Live and All My Children will participate in a day of service on Saturday.

Stars excepted to participate in Los Angeles are from General Hospital are  Brandon Barash (Johnny), Kelly Monaco (Sam), Kimberly McCullough (Robin), Jane Elliot (Tracy), Carolyn Hennesy (Diane), Kent King (Lainey), Lisa Lo Cicero (Olivia), Minae Noji (Kelly), Haley Pullos (Molly), Aaron Refvem (Morgan), Megan Ward (Kate), Lexi Ainsworth (Kristina), and Dominic Zamprogna (Dominic).

In New York, stars confirmed to participate from All My Children are Bobbie Eakes (Krystal), Melissa Claire Egan (Annie), Ricky Paull Goldin (Jake),  Thorsten Kaye (Zach), JR Martinez (Brot), Cornelius Smith Jr. (Frankie), Chrishell Stause (Amanda), Adam Mayfield (Scott), and Denise Vasi (Randi).

Participating from “One Life to Live” will be  Melissa Archer (Natalie), Daphnee Duplaix (Rachel), John Brotherton (Jared), Brandon Buddy (Cole), Austin Williams (Shane), Jason Tam (Markko) and Bree Williamson (Jessica). Please note that talent participation is subject to change.

The Soap Nation Tour is ABC Daytime and SOAPnet’s ongoing initiative to bring more stars to more fans in more cities more often.

Jonathan Jackson returns to General Hospital as Lucky

Daytime Emmy winner Jonathan Jackson returns to General Hospital after a 10 year absense in the role he originated,  Lucky Spencer. Lucky is the first born child of Luke and Laura Spencer, the most popular super couple in daytime television history.

Jackson replaces Greg Vaughn as Lucky. Vaughn played the Port Charles police detective for the last seven years. Jacob Young also played Lucky before landing the role of JR Chandler on All My Children.

The 8th annual Hollywood Reporter/Billboard Film and TV Music Conference will be held on October 29-30 in Beverly Hills.  The most highly anticipated panels at the event this year will be for the TV show “Glee”, the movie “Twilight:New Moon”, the Sara Evans and SOAPnet panel and Mary J. Blige’s keynote panel.

The Glee panel will be called BACKBEAT: THE ANATOMY OF A TV SHOW- Fox’s “Glee”
A look behind-the-scenes at how “Glee” uses music — from on screen in synchs to the soundtrack for stores. Adam Anders (Glee music producer) and Grammy winner Lea Michelle who plays Rachel on the show will be just a few who will be on the panel.

The “New Moon” panel will feature a discussion called SOUNDTRACK CASE STUDY:”THE TWILIGHT SAGA:NEW MOON”. The masterminds behind the 2.1 million-selling soundtrack to “Twilight” discuss how they selected the bands and songs to appear on the soundtrack to film’s sequel, “The Twilight Saga: New Moon. Paul Katz, music consultant of Summit Entertainment will be one of the speakers on the panel.

Day 1 Keynote Speaker will be country singer Sara Evans — Multiple-platinum selling and award-winning country artist Sara Evans talks about her deal with ABC Daytime and SOAPnet for promotion, placement and tour sponsorship.

Day 2 Keynote Speaker will be R&B legend, Mary J. Blige.  –R&B legend Mary J. Blige discusses her career and  contributions to film and TV music, including a preview of the song she wrote  for Lionsgate’s “PRECIOUS: BASED ON THE NOVEL ‘PUSH’ BY  SAPPHIRE.” The film, directed by “Monster’s Ball” producer Lee Daniels  and adapted for the screen by Geoffrey Fletcher, stars Mo’Nique, Paula Patton,  Mariah Carey, Sherri Shepherd, Lenny Kravitz and introduces Gabourey Sidibe.  PRECIOUS will be in theaters  beginning on November 6, 2009. Blige’s next album will be released this fall.

All My Children’s Erica Kane heads to Africa next week. The Daytime Emmys has a produced a segment to air on the 36th Annual Emmy Awards on August 30th called DAYTIME GIVES BACK. General Hospital’s Tony Geary and Kelly Monaco recently went to Kenya to help the kids who are dying there. The actors visited a number of the country’s slums and helped serve food, bought much needed supplies, and even played with the children.

All My Children’s Executive Producer, Julie Hanan Carruthers honed the idea for Erica Kane to go as well. The show plans to use some of the footage shot with Erica in Kenya to kick of a new storyline for the show.

Erica heads to Africa on All My Children on Thursday, August 20th. Lucci will be a presenter at the Daytime Emmy Ceremony which will be held in Los Angeles and will air on the CW.

ABC and SOAPnet released a bit of footage in a Sneak Preview of next weeks storylines. Check out some of the footage at the 1:05 mark in the clip.

Hulu To Carry Grey’s Anatomy and Other Disney-ABC Programs

Hulu will be airing episodes online of shows from ABC, ABC Family, SOAPnet and Disney Channel this month, starting with Grey’s Anatomy which premiered on the channel this week.

Desperate Housewives, Scrubs, Ugly Betty, I Survived a Japanese Game Show and Superstars are just some of the shows Disney-ABC has announced for a run on Hulu. Details about which shows will air and when, is expected to be announced later this summer.

Soaps Plan For 4th Of July Weekend

With many America’s expected to celebrate a long 4th of July weekend as the holiday falls on a Saturday this year, the networks have planned the following programming for the afternoon of Friday, July 3rd.

Days of our Lives
will be pre-empted for NBC Sports coverage of Wimbledon on Thursday and Friday, July 2nd and 3rd. The network carries live coverage of the event every year.

The ABC network will air repeat episodes of all of their soap operas on July 3rd:

(original airdate 5/15/09): Adam’s enemies want him to pay for his sins; Angie and Jake work to save Ian’s life; and Annie makes her move. SOAPNet and ABC have hinted that during the repeat airing of the episode, viewers should look for new clues to the Chandler Murder Mystery whodunit as there way be clues that weren’t seen the first time around.

General Hospital
(original airdate 5/18/09): Carly gets the news she’s been praying for; Ethan drops a bomb on Lulu; and Rebecca makes a deal with Alexis.

One Life to Live
(original airdate 3/18/09): Nora and Marty swap insults as their tempers flare; Todd makes plans to fight for his kids; and Bo and Rex share sob stories over their sons medical issues.

The CBS network will air all new episodes on Friday July 3 of Young & The Restless, As The world Turns, Guiding Light, and The Bold & The Beautiful.

Original episodes of all your favorite soaps will resume to regular programming on Monday July 6.
